At 25 years old, Akira was the oldest member and second-in-command of the Gorengers. He was serving as a marksmanship instructor at the Tohoku branch of EAGLE's Japan Block, training in the snow-draped Touhoku region, when the Black Cross Army launched their assault.

A cool, stoic, and capable decision-maker, his tactical mind saved the team from many Black Cross traps. Off-duty, he was known for his love of American cowboy fashion and his aspirations of becoming a professional race car driver.

As Aorenger, he was the team's primary ace pilot, operating the Gorenger sky vehicles Variblune and Varidreen. He held a special affection for the Variblune, often referring to it as "my Variblune." He was an unsurpassed archer, armed with the super bow Blue Cherry and its upgraded version, the Ultra Blue Cherry.

These weapons fired specially designed Blue Arrows and Blue Arrow Rockets with pinpoint accuracy. Akira also operated the heavy-duty super motorcycle Blue Machine and its successor, the Blue Star.
