Episode 18: "Father and Brotherly Bonds"
[Continued from Episode 17]
Ikkou is still out of his mind, while Isshuu tells the story to the Hurricanger about their determined father. Their father
trained this two sons, he wanted them to be Goraijer. He pit brother against brother. Isshuu shudders at the thought of the
memories. His father designed the armor and downloaded the information about the mecha into the message device. He later left
and died. The Hurricanger try to convince him that he can change. He stresses things are the way they are. "That's the only
reason we exist, so Father always said. To get stronger. To fight! To someday beat him!!"
Nanami asks Ikkou, "So that's it, you will also become more and more your father's vessel?!" Yousuke and Isshuu have a
bittered talk about the fact that Ikkou will kill him if they continue like this. Isshuu can't even bare to say what he
beleives he needs to do. He then yells, "Why, Brother, Why?"
Yousuke watches him with pained empathy, then steps forward to stand right behind him and asks softly, "Is it
all right if I call you Isshu?" Isshuu turns and stares blankly at him. "Call me Yousuke, will you?" he says with
a warm friendliness, hands on his knees. Nanami and Kouta bound into the surf to join him. "I'm Nanami! Call me
Nana-chan!" "My name's Kouta," says that one, reaching a hand down and pulling the still-stunned Isshuu to his feet.
"It's nice to meet you, eh?" They've put him at their center. Yousuke says determinidly, "Your big brother, Ikkou, we'll
help you get him back!" They all look at him with enthusiastic smiles, and he can't muster anything but
meet each of their gazes. "You...?" for it is hard to believe they are how they are after everything that's happened.
"You'll be able to save Ikkou," says Yousuke enthusiastically. Nanami adds, "You'll open his eyes."
Kouta adds with a firm nod, "We'll be your backup." Isshu's been alone for so long, but he finally accepts their help with a
dazed nod.
Chuzubo comes to Ikkou. "Why, Kabutoraijer, Kuwagaraijer has to come, doesn't he? So you can kill him. Fill yourself
with the gas, let it wipe out your weakness." Ikkou barely gets up and breahtes in the gas that still hurts. Kouta, Isshu, Nanami and Yousuke
head towards Ikkou and get attacked by Girigirigaishi. The sun returns and the electrity comes back when Girigrigaishi is
destroyed by the Triple Gadget. Oboro contacts the Hurricanger. Mugensai scolds the goofy trio. Ikkou rushes through the three
to get to Isshuu, who says, "Brother, you have to stop! Father is dead!" The Hurricanger
feel distress, but can't get away from their battle with Chuzubo to help.
"Fight me! Hate me!" Ikkou screams. Isshuu can't, and he says so. "No! I can't do it! No!" Ikkou raises the Ikazuchi
Maru to strike the final blow. Isshuu moves to defend himself before Ikkou hits the blade down, so it slides on his shoulder.
He throws Ikkou off him and gets back up, but Ikkou takes out his Horn Breaker, shoots Isshuu and he falls.
He is weeping
as his brother races towards him. Isshuu gets back to his feet. He's had enough, and seeing Ikkou in this madness is too
much for him. "It has to stop," he weeps. And he pulls out his own Ikazuchi Maru, and this time the two weapons meet
and clash.
And Isshuu strikes hard and Ikkou begins to fall and lands on his back. The roles are reversed on the brothers, with the blade
at Ikkou's throat. Ikkou urges his younger brother to kill him. Isshuu screams in anger.
And when he raises his Ikazuchi Maru to kill,
there is no flinching this time on either side. "Stop!" calls a voice. Everyone turns to look. There are the two children.
It was the girl, with her brother ahead of her running towards the brothers. "Don't kill him!" she cries.
Isshuu would rather do anything but that. Ikkou grabs him by the throat and throws him aside. Isshuu warns the children not to get closer.
As Ikkou gets to his feet and lurches vaguely in their direction, Isshuu screams at them to run.
The children are frozen still. The girl says, "We were really scared, but you got caught
by that gas trying to help us!" Ikkou remembers this. What they didn't know was that he wanted to use the gas for himself, not
to save them. "You got gassed because of us. Saving us." He towers over them, weapon
raised to strike. Ikkou tells them, "That's not the truth. It wasn't to help you
he breathed in that gas." But the two children link hands firmly. "But you did save us. So we can still play together."
They hold up their linked hands for Ikkou to see. He stops
suddenly. Ikkou remembers him and Isshuu as children playing in a river. Ikkou had a net, Isshuu carried other things.
He caught his brother's hand to keep him from
falling in. "You okay?" "I'm okay!" Isshuu replied. They continued on.
"I don't see any fish," he said. Isshuu raises his small spear to strike.
Back in present time, Ikkou staggers back, drops his weapon and crys Isshu's name. Ikkou falls to his knees, out of his armor.
"Big brother!" calls Isshu. Chuzubo is less happy. The Hurricanger are quick to attack while he's distracted.
Together they kick him. Chuzubo falls down in a series of explosions. The kids rush to Ikkou's side, asking him if he is
okay. Isshuu, gets out of armor and calls Ikkou. He makes his way towards the waiting Isshu, fighting to stay up on
buckling legs. He ends up clutching his brother's shoulder and slowly falling to one knee.
Isshuu braces him with a hand on his elbow. "I'm sorry, Isshuu. I get it now. Father sent us out to get stronger,
but not to live. What a pitiful excuse for a man." Pained by this, Isshuu joins his brother on one knee and
holds on to him. Ikkou cries. Isshuu nods his acceptance of this, and wraps his brother in his arms while
the Hurricanger and the two kids watch in relief.
Chuzubo makes Girigirigaishi giant and the Goraijer and Hurricanger call their machines. Mugensai happily comments,
"This is the first time the Gouraijer and Hurricanger have faced the Jakanja together!" Gouraijin destroys the monster.
The island is sinking and Gouraijin reaches down and gets the two children. Nanami adds, "Yes, together eh?"
And Kouta says, "Yeah, let's get back. It's been too long." Isshuu shoves his viewfinder out of his way and say amusedly,
"Yup. After all this I'm pretty tired." In Ikkou's cockpit, the two kids are at his shoulders and he invites them to
go home. They are glad to agree. Both robots walk through the ocean as the island sinks behind them. Tao zanto is pissed.
He shocks and tortues Chuzubo. Sargain is worried, Wendinu and Furabijou duck behind a column. Wendinu wonders where Manmaruba
is. Furabijou comments that she hasn't seen him for a while. He has hurtled into a chamber.
There are four rocky pillars and he centers himself between them. He spins webs and hangs within them.
